About the SSCV IncThe Shetland Sheepdog Club of Victoria Inc is a non-profit organisation (affiliated with Dogs Victoria) which is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and well-being of our chosen breed, the Shetland Sheepdog (also known as the Sheltie) as a breed, as companions, and as show and performance dogs. The Club supports breeders and owners of Shetland Sheepdogs, through the organisation of events (including Shows and Trials), promotion and support for breeders striving to eliminate hereditary disease, and through Canine Council representation for its members. The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Victoria Inc was formed as a club in 1961. The club currently has many members from all states of Australia, as well as overseas, including NZ and the UK. Amongst other purposes, the club in particular aims to promote and raise the standards of breeding, rearing, keeping, training and general welfare of dogs, in particular the Shetland Sheepdog and to promote and encourage the exhibition and breeding of Shetland Sheepdogs which meet the ANKC approved Breed Standard. The main activities that the club provides includes: a Championship Conformation Show, an Open Conformation Show, an Obedience and Rally O Trial, Member's Competitions, a "Fun Day" where many of our members get together to socialise and play games (both dogs and humans) and other dog related activities. The club has many types of members who either breed and/or show Shelties, who do obedience or agility with their Shelties, or who have Shelties as companions. The club is for anyone to join who has a Sheltie or simply enjoys the breed. Members receive a monthly newsletter to keep them up to date on club activities and other Sheltie related business. Why not become a member? We would love you to join and look forward to meeting you at one of the club's many activities. |
